peek a boo

Madison and Dad playing peek a boo. You got to love those curls and blue eyes!

blanket obsession

I think it must be because of the new daycare, but Madison now wants to be covered with a blanket. One of her teachers almost always wears a skirt. So when she sits on the floor, she puts a blanket on her lap to cover a knees. So on Sunday Madison wanted to have the blanket on her lap all day. I think she is also sitting and reading like the teacher does.

indoor swimming

Saturday Hurricane Ike was supposed to hit us, so Madison decided to do some indoor swimming. It rained most of the day, and even got a little heavier for about an hour that night. But that was it. We've had much worse t-storms in Kansas. But that's fine by us.

saturday morning with dad

Rick got up with Madison saturday morning and let me have some extra time in bed. They had another photo shoot.

painting Sadie

Later that evening Rick was fixing an old painting to work in our newly painted room (more on that later). Madison decided she wanted to paint also, so we gave her a paint brush. She decided Sadie need a new shade.

friday afternoon

After lunch last Friday, Rick was able to work from home. So instead of driving home from work on Friday, Dad got to play with Madison.

Dad getting a kiss from Madison.

Madison putting a block on Dad's head.

car wash

Dad decided to wash the Jetta this weekend and Madison just had to help.

i love sadie

The weekend after labor day was a beautiful weekend so we were hanging out outside. Madison loves to sit in the curl of Sadie. And she loves to give Sadie kisses. I'm not sure Sadie likes it as much, but she is really good at putting up with it.

cuddling

The park really wore Madison out. She was also starting to get a runny nose. So when she woke up from her nap, she cuddled with Grandpa. She never just sits and watches unless she is in the car. She was tired. But then once she woke up she was her usually self.

Tanganyika Park

Sunday morning we decided to try a new wildlife park on the west side of Wichita that just opened. The park has lots of potential but it was only about half open. But we had a great visit and got to see lots of cool things.
The favorite was the Lemurs. They had a island for the Lemurs. The Lemurs had a little bridge to get to there "house" and their was a gate on the bridge to make sure they stayed on the island. The park employee that let you in gave you a dried cranberry and told you not to pet the Lemurs. As soon as we sat in the right spot, they ran over from the house and literally took the cranberry our of you hands. They had these amazing little fingers. And they were not shy as you can see.

We also went into the Kangaroo pin. We had to stay on the sidewalk, but we got lucky and one of the kangaroos was lounging on the sidewalk. So we got to pet a kangaroo!

We fed the rabbits grass.

And we got to feed the Lories sugar water.

labor day weekend

We went to Wichita for Labor Day weekend. Rick was in San Antonio for work that week and wasn't supposed to get back until 8 on Friday night, so we weren't going to go until Saturday morning. But then Rick called Friday morning and said that he had gotten on an earlier flight and would be home about 4:30. So when Madison took her nap I frantically packed everyone and the car up. Then Rick called at 3 and said he has just landed and he was on his way home. So we headed out of the house at 4 and made it to Wichita by 10 (darn traffic).
Saturday night Sarah's parents had a birthday party for Spencer and Sarah. So we went over there for a swim and dinner. Madison had a wonderful time, although she doesn't understand how deep the water is and she can't walk in the deep end. She also saw Spencer jumping off the diving board and didn't understand why she couldn't jump. She also loved the the carrot cake that Aunt Ashley made!

catching up

The Friday before Labor Day the Joneses were in town. Madison and I went to Rebecca's house where they were staying for a visit. When Maddie and I first got there we stepped in the middle of a photo shoot of the grandkids (4 girls) with Kerri, Rebecca and Nan all trying to get the girls to smile and look at the camera. Madison just watched in awe for a while. It was pretty funny. Then we went upstairs, the girls played and Kerri and I got to chat. Then Stephen came back from visiting his dad and we chatted too. It was great to see familar faces! They invited Madison and I to a BBQ that night. Rick was in San Antonio for work and wasn't supposed to be home until 8. But on the way home from Rebecca's house, Rick called and said he had gotten on a earlier flight. So we ended up heading for Wichita at 4. We'll have to party with the Joneses next time the visit!
