photo shoot

Rick decided to do an impromptu photo shoot. Although I did take the last photo of Maddie with my dad.

first christmas present

So Grandpa couldn't wait to give her a present, so Tigger came out on Saturday. Grandpa got him (and Pooh) on a recent trip to Orlando.

more snow...

These are pics of the 6-8 inches of snow Wichita got last weekend. Sadie and Ellie (my parent's golden) loved it. They would just go outside and lay in the big piles of snow.

playin' in the snow

These pics are from Dec 16th when KC had a good snow. Madison thought it was a little bright out, but was facinated by the snow.

Madison loves to watch Sadie play. She just giggled.

a snowy day in ta-town

Well, we are in Wichita for the Christmas and, man, are we glad we left when we did. We were supposed to leave this morning from KC. But we got concerned about the weather. So we did a fast pack job yesterday and left KC about 4. It wasn't too fun for Maddie since she was awake most of the trip, but she did really good. So this morning when I let Sadie out at 6 while I was getting Madison's bottle, it was really windy and it had started to sleet. Now its snowing like crazy. Good thing we left when we did!
Madison is feeling much better. She didn't cough Wed or Thurs at all, so we stopped her breathing treatments and so far, so good.
So since my next group of pictures to add are at home, I thought I'd just give everyone and update on what Madison has been up to. She is very mobile now and I told Rick we need to do a better job of babyproofing at home. She crawls at a good clip now and cruises around the furntiture. She also stands up and down all day long and loves to walk around with someone holding her hands.
About 3 weeks ago on a Sunday she just starting saying BAABAABAABAA over and over all day long for 3 days. Then she moved on. Now we get MAA DAA NAA WAA and all kinds of other babble. She loves to talk. She also loves to give kisses and even gave Grandma and Grandpa a kiss goodnight last night. About a week ago Blythe swore that she said cracker at lunch 2 days in a row. I finally heard it the following Tuesday night. Its more like KA KER. And she gets super excited when she sees her cracker. Although sometimes she just crushes it in her hand.
She loves to watch Sadie. We figured out that she giggles when Sadie barks. So we tell Sadie to speak and give her treats just to hear Maddie giggle. She also looks for Sadie when we first come home and just giggles. She loves to crawl up to Sadie and grab a fist full of fur. We are working on that one.
That's about it for Madison's new tricks. I'll post some new pictures when we get home.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

pearly whites

Finally got pictures of those teeth. Man, they are sharp! You have to look closely in the next two pics.

Madison is not too crazy about sitting in her exersaucer anymore. She only likes to stand up outside of it. Then she cruises around it.

what we've been up to

So we've been busy becuase Madison has been sick. She got a cold the weekend of the 1st. She had a runny nose and cough. Tuesday morning I had to pick her up from daycare because Meredith had a fever and they were going to doctor. So I knew Madison and were staying home together on Wednesday because of Meredith's fever. Wednesday morning Rick left for Phoenix at 5 am that morning. Then when Madison got up that morning she was weezing and she threw up twice because she was coughing so hard. So we got ready and were at the doctor at 8 am when they opened. We found out that Madison had double ear infections and RSV. So we've been giving her 4 breathing treatments a day ever since. She hates the treatments. Those first 2 days while Rick was gone were the hardest. But she is feeling much better now. Although she is still coughing occasionally so we are still doing the treatments Anyway, we are all sleeping better now.

sweet face

look mom, no hands!

Sorry its been a while. We've been busy. But more about that later.
These pics are from almost 2 weeks ago Friday the 30th. Madison decided that she could stand on her own. This time it was only for a few seconds. Now she can stand for at least a minute.

That day we also pulled out some hand-me-down toys from Jack Dunfield. This was one of her favorites.

One of her new favorites is to pull herself up to standing using her toy bucket and pull everything out.

Ho Ho Ho

Since the Christmas season has offically started, Maddie decided to wear her Christmas shirt to daycare on Tuesday.

crazy dog

This is what Sadie did all weekend in Wichita. She loves my sister's cat Cricket. So she chased her all around the house and tried to get Cricket to play with her. Cricket mostly ignored Sadie or batted her paw at Sadie and hissed. It was pretty funny.

rock chalk

Friday we went to Wichita to visit the Posts. Maddie and Sadie did pretty good in the car together. But Madison was ready to get out of the car when we got there. We went to Botanica that night to see all the Christmas lights. Madison had on her hat, her coat and hood, her mittens and 2 blankets. She was cozy. Its started snowing while we were there which made it really pretty.
Then Saturday morning Madison's crazy parents decided to buy a car. We'd been talking about it for a while. And we got a deal we couldn't refuse. Its a Saturn Outlook. Its really fun. And the ride back to KC was a lot easier!

Saturday night we got all dressed in our crimson and blue to support the hawks. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Although Maddie cheered on her hawks as long as she could, but only made it until the middle of the 1st quarter. The hawks had a great season. Who would have thought we be going to a BCS bowl?
Aunt Ashley, Mom and Madison dressed for the game.

Grandma and Grandpa with their favorite grandchild (that might be becuase she is their only grandchid).

Madison loves to be upside down. Her dad taught her this trick. Imagine that.

First Thanksgiving

For Madison's first Thanksgiving we went over to Rick's parents house. Of course Madison was taking her nap when it was time to eat. Which was good for Mom because she actually got to eat. Later Madison had fun playing with all the toys they had. Including riding the truck around and standing up and falling down over and over.

maddie's new trick

So this is Maddie's favorite thing to do now. This is Thanksgiving morning. She did not take a nap at all that morning. She just stood up in her crib over and over.

what a mess

We gave Madison a teething biscuit last week for the first time. And oh what a mess she made!

teeth!

Mid week last we noticed that Madison's two bottom teeth finally broke through! They are barely poking through, but at least the worst is over. Hopefully!

thump in the night

So about 6:30 this morning I heard a thump come from Madison's room. Then she started crying. So I ran in there. She was laying on her back and she smiled when she saw me. Then as I stood there, she rolled over, crawled to her bumper and proceeded to use the bumper to pull herself up the edge of the crib and stand up! And from about the chest up was sticking up out of her crib. So before her morning nap, Rick and I lowered her mattress to the lowest position. I can't believe she is crawling and pulling herself up to a stand in one week! Oh and she was so proud of herself too. Except for the fact that I thought she was going to hurt herself, it was pretty cute.

just for fun

piles of leaves

Rick came on early on Friday and we raked leaves during Maddie's nap. Then when she woke up, we tried to get some pictures of her in the piles of leaves, but she wasn't too sure about it all. Sadie, however, loves to lay right in the middle of the pile.

readin'

In that last week Madison has decided that its okay to sit while Mom reads her a book instead of alwalys trying to eat the book. Oh don't get me wrong, she eventually tries to eat it.

Elmo

Our friend Trice gave Madison a Tickle me Elmo when she was born. We've had it up on the shelf above her changing table since then. Well, a couple of weeks ago when Mom wasn't home, Dad got it down and showed it to Madison. Now she is OBSESSED with it! Every time we are pick her up from the changing table she looks for it and smiles. Even if you try to turn her away from it, she will look around you until she sees it. So we pull it down and let her watch it. She laughs at it for a while and then tries to eat Elmo's eyes. Sadie also loves Elmo.

catching up from last weekend

Last weekend we went to Kerri's house to meet Roney's little girl Savannah. I forgot my camera, but check out Campbell's blog for some pics. Savannah is very cute. I forgot that Madison used to be that small! Crazy how fast it goes.
Then on Sunday, Madison went with me to Gourmet. There were 8 of us girls and 6 kids including Madison. She made it for about an hour and a half before she decided she had had enough. Here is a pic of her and Wendy.

on the move

Madison is offically crawling! She is not the fastest kid on the block, but she is moving. These pics are from last Friday while she was hanging out with me. Tonight she is moving much faster.
The second picture is of Madison saying her favorite thing these days. who who who who who who. Too cute.
Also, you will see her new favorite playmate. Sadie seems to be jealous sometimes when we play with Madison. I keep warning her that pretty soon Maddie will want to play with her more than us and she is not going to like it. For now she tolorates Madison very well. Maddie still grabs fists of fur. The only thing Sadie does is try to lick Maddie. I guess that's fair.

swingers

Last weekend we walked up to the park and Maddie played on the swing. She loved it! Although she also enjoyed watching the little girl on the swing next to her.
