pumpkin patch
Two weekends ago we went to a fall festival at a local nursery (as in place that sells plants). We called it a pumpkin patch, but it wasn't really. The did have flower pots that we decorated and planted a pansy in. Then we did the maze and picked out a pumpkin. And finally the petting zoo showed up. But the popcorn was Madison's favorite part of the day.

18 months
So Madison has been 18 months since the first of October, but we just had her doctor's appt last Friday. The doctor said she is doing great. She weighs 23lbs 12oz which is 50% and 33 1/2" tall which is 95%. Weight wise, she has always been average. But she has usually been average height wise. Not sure if its a growth spurt or if she is going to be tall.
Madison has become quite a little girl. She understands everything we say. And just in the last couple of weeks she is talking up a storm: dad, mama, baby, dog, kitty cat, airplane, all gone, right there, Elmo, down, eyes, Sadie, help, bath, park, outside, cheese (cheezzzzzz), sky. More is her favorite word when she eats. And this morning as we watched Seseme Street she said Abby. She loves to repeat words we say, so we have to be really careful!
She is good about helping us pick up her toys, she loves to throw things in the trash and take a tissue to blow her nose. She blows on her food when I tell her its hot, she knows her milk is in the door of the fridge and water is in the door outside the fridge. She loves to help with the laundry and push the buttons to start the washer and dryer. She is still obsessed with the park and the swing and runs to the front door saying park at least once a day. She knows where the crackers and cookies are in the pantry. She loves to sing, especially the song on Elmo's world. And when she sings she has to sway back and forth. She also loves to say bye bye and wave, blow kisses and even fake yawn. She usually has breakfast here, breakfast at school, a snack, lunch, another snack, dinner at school, and then dinner at home(or at least some of our dinner). She loves to sit on the kitchen chairs, on the deck chairs or on the coffee table. But she doesn't usually want to sit on the couch. She is also going to be an independent little girl. Not sure where she gets that. :)
She will watch Elmo or a cartoon in the car, but when we play it inside, she is only interested for about 5 minutes. She has diapers with the disney princesses on them that she wears to bed and she loves them. We ask her if she is ready to put on her princess diaper and she gets all excited.
She is a silly little girl, but we are having a great time with her. Its hard to believe how much they change in 18 months...

aipan (or airplane)
I wanted to share a little more about the plane to KC. Madison was supposed to ride on our laps, but we were a little worried about how that was going to go. Luckily they had a extra seat. So Madison rode in her car seat, watched Elmo dvds, and was mostly happy. Unfortunately her window was entirely blocked by the engine.
On the way back, they didn't even look to see if they had a extra seat so we checked the car seat. (we found out later an earlier flight to Dallas was cancelled). So while we were getting settled, a women came up and said that she was supposed to be in my seat. We told the flight attentent and he called someone. I heard him say a couple of times that we were traveling with an infant. He asked the women to go to the front to get a new seat. And then just before take-off there was still no one seating next to us. (there were actually 4 empty seats right by us). So we did get an extra seat which was good, but it would have been better if we hadn't checked the car seat. Overall Madison was really good.
Oh, and she says airplane all the time! Or aipan. Airplanes fly over the house about every 5 minutes, so there is a lot of oportunity.
