checking out Dad's handiwork

Sunday we headed to the Royals game to check out the new renovations to the stadium. It helped that they were playing the White Sox. Renny, Luke and Brian came too, although we seem to not have any pics of them. The kids loved the new kids area. A carousel, a playground, a splash area, more. We were able to watch a little of the game, but only when we stood in front of the fountains in the Pepsi Party Deck. It was standing room only at a counter, but Madison just sat on the counter and was fairly content. We made it to the 5th inning and then the kids were done. In there defense, it was a 1:00 game and that is Madison's nap time. She fell asleep in the car on the way home and didn't even notice when I moved her to her crib.
The carousel.
Posing in front of Dad's sign! Rick drew this for the signage for the new stadium. And we didn't even tell her to stand there. Its for the mini golf area.
Everything in the store that Madison decided she needed.
By the fountains.

Parade Day

On Saturday the 4th we went to the Lenexa Independence Day Parade. We brought our bags for the candy that they hand out. They also gave out the flags that the kids had fun with. After waking up early that morning to a thunderstorm, we had perfect weather for the parade, cool and cloudy.

After nap we had the traditional burgers for dinner. And homemade ice cream. Yum! Too bad Madison has decided she doesn't like ice cream. Silly girl.

kissing cousins

Friday night after fireworks, it was bathtime for Madison and Luke. We even got Luke to give Madison a kiss!

4th of July in KC

The Wednesday before the 4th we headed to KC for a visit with a quick stop in Wichita. Renny, Brian and Luke were also visiting from Chicago. Friday morning we were supposed to meet with up with friends at the park, but it decided to storm instead. So we headed to Starbucks and saw a few friends that braved the rain. It was great to see you guys!
After Starbucks we visited Ashley and Cy at their newly rented house in Fairway. And then they joined us for our first round of BBQ at Oklahoma Joe's. So good!
Then for dinner that night we had more BBQ, this time Jack Stack. Almost as good.
After dinner we set off some fireworks in the driveway. Madison loved the fireworks and loved the sparkler a little more than I would like.

Watching fireworks.
Sparkler. Making Mom nervous.

tink mows the lawn

Madison in her Tinkerbell outfit mowing the lawn. She does love mowing.
Unfortunately Dad had just finished mowing the lawn, so she got grass all over the mower and we had to wash it off. Did I mention that we have to clean and wash things a lot.

another artist in the family

The week before the 4th, I had to switch my day at home with Madison to Wednesday because of a Friday meeting. So that Wednesday we decided to try some painting with our easel. Madison loved it and we have painted again about every other day since. She is also loves to wash out the brushes every 2 or 3 minutes.

already quite the women

Who says you can't mow the lawn in high heels. From before the 4th. Dad was mowing so Madison had to mow too. Sorry its not a great picture.
